It is important to distinguish between the 3 distinct levels of QR codes:
1. One-To-Many QR
2. One-To-One QR Lite
3. One-To-One Enterprise QR
One-to-Many QR
These are the most basic QR codes. They hyperlink everyone to the same destination and are typically seen on billboards, newspapers and magazine ads.
One-to-One QR Lite
These codes are associated with personalized, one-to-one documents such as transaction documents, transpromo or direct mail. They provide a unique hyperlink for each recipient and are generated by software specific to an application. Companies desiring QR codes across multiple applications would contract software from multiple vendors.
One-to-One Enterprise QR
Enterprise QR generates codes from a single software platform from a single vendor. Enterprise QR is often referred to as the professional edition QR generator. Its codes are seen on applications ranging from high volume transpromo documents to company name badges to warehouse tracking systems across the entire global enterprise. Enterprise QR supports every:
- word processing system
- document composition system,
- hardware platform (i.e. mainframe, UNIX, Windows, etc.),
- printer or output destination,
- document post processing device.
Enterprise QR incorporates the capabilities of One-to-Many QR and QR Lite with the added advantages of enterprise wide support.
In my next post I will amplify on the comparisons between these 3 levels of QR codes.
